Neck Pain Treatment for Teenagers with Text Neck
Does your teenager suffer from neck pain?
Between constant texting, surfing the internet at home, and sitting awkwardly at their desk at school, it’s no wonder why so many teenagers suffer from sore necks. If your teenager is one of them, check out the neck pain treatments of text neck below.
Neck Pain Treatment of “Text Neck”
Text neck is a term that’s evolved to describe the posture of hunching forward, leaning your neck out, and looking down. If this position is practiced over long periods of time it can lead to a sore neck. Obviously, the best treatment is to limit device time. Barring that, here is what else you can do about it.
1. Use Voice Instead of Typing
While it may be a far cry to ask that you limit device usage for your teenager, especially when it comes to texting, it can be beneficial to swap out texting for talking. Use talk-to-text functions embedded within most smartphones to allow you to hold your phone out in front of you without having to look down. This alleviates the strain on the neck.
2. Use an App
While it may seem ironic to download an app to combat this issue, there are some nifty little app solutions available. Apps like Text Neck take photos of your head while you use your phone, and notify you if you have incorrect posture.
3. Build Neck Muscle
Include plenty of core strengthening exercises to your normal workout routine. If you don’t have a workout routine, get one! Strengthening and stretching the neck are 2 great ways to combat text neck.
