This weeks Q & A with Dr. Darrell, we look at the most common type of Arthritis.

There are many types of arthritis but Osteo Arthritis (OA) is by far the most common but is largely preventable!

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of bones in your joints gradually wears away. Osteoarthritis can affect any joint, but it most commonly affects the joints in your knees, hips, and spine. When pelvic joints are not moving properly they affect your gait which can cause wear and tear on your knees and hips.

Restoring motion to those joints and adding some supplements can help prevent arthritis from progressing. As with any healthy habit: consistency is the key. Preventing arthritis is one of the reasons we recommend regular chiropractic visits (every 3-4 weeks), a diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods, engaging in regular exercise to strengthen the muscles around the joints and supplements in some cases.
